The Skill Refinery
A 3-MONTH COACHING PROGRAMME FOR STUDENTS WITH AMBITION.
How much easier would studying be if you had someone to guide you through it?
Someone who shows you how to meet the expectations.
Who offers game plans instead of deadlines.
Who advises instead of grading.
Who looks for alternatives instead of drawing conclusions.
With me, you get:
Science-based study methods tailored to your learning style.
Insider knowledge of UK, European, and USA universities, courses, admissions, timelines, formats, and all the other choices you have to make as a student.
Sustained motivation to help you stop procrastinating and achieve the academic level you know youāre capable of.
We will work together to achieve the academic goals your heart desires.
While the Skills Refinery is always tailored to you, it broadly consists of three phases:
1 Observe
One doesnāt always see things as they are, and so risks misdiagnosing the problem. But itās easier when you have an ally in your corner. In the first phase, we observe your study life and take note of what goes on. Then, we:
Recognise the habits and patterns you live by
Tease out your beliefs about studying
Talk through how your mindset and emotions influence the practical choices you make in your academic life.
3 Maintain
2 Apply
In this key phase, we move from observation to action. We recognise what you already do well, and identify your biggest challenges and areas to focus on. We then use your medium-term timeline and goals to:
Map out a schedule that makes the most of your available time
Design solutions that help you to form more productive habits
Hold an in-depth session on your biggest academic challenge
My goal is to take you beyond short-term accomplishment and into a future where you can replicate your academic success on any scale. In the final phase of the Skill Refinery, we:
Plan for future milestones
Develop tools for managing potential future challenges
Equip you with a system to keep evaluating and building on your progress.
Refine the skills that last a lifetime.
āMonika didnāt just show me how to work faster and score higher. I went from trying to keep up to seeing the big picture, and that was a game-changer for me. Iām able to manage a bigger workload without burning out, and Iāve stopped obsessing over how others see my work, although Iāve been getting better feedback!ā
If you areā¦
doing your undergrad, Masterās, or PhD
underachieving due to a lack of self-confidence
doing alright, but know you are capable of more
want to find a balance between studying and life
⦠then we could be a good fit!
Who is the Skill Refinery for?
āIām known as the ācleverā one among my friends and I do love to learn, but every assignment leaves me drained: I procrastinate, I second-guess myself, and I always feel like I could have done better. I just want to have a sense of control, so I can focus on making my dreams come true.ā

Monika Kreile
I am a linguist by training and a learner by persuasion. For a decade, I taught secondary school, but that was hard to combine with being a mother to two little girls, so I founded YOUNG&Able in 2024 and have never looked back.
My coaching combines my extensive experience in education: as a student with four degrees under my belt, as a qualified teacher, and as an editor to doctoral candidates and academics.
I want to help you discover that most of what you believe to be innate intelligence is, in fact, well-calibrated method. And Iām here to help you find yours.
